Learn Customizing Wattage For The Best Vaping experience!
If you are a vaper using an Advanced Personal Vaporizer, APV or MOD, then you should get familiarized with the term ‘wattage’ and its role in determining a successful vaping experience. Different APV differ in sizes, shapes and materials, but all of them have very common settings including the ability to increase or decrease the wattage to customize the heat/power of your machine.
But, what does wattage means?
Wattage is the measure of the amount of power used by the e-cigarette. Adjusting the wattage on your vaping machine means, the temperature produced by the atomizer/coil heating up the eliquid, also gets altered. This gives the ability to fine tune the Vaping Machine to specific tastes and preferences.
Each tank has an inbuilt Coil/atomizer with its own resistance, typically ranging from 1 to 2.1Ohms, however most MODs this days allow sub-ohm coils with resistances under 1ohm. The lower the resistance, the more Wattage required by the MOD, giving a vaping experience with more flavor, vapour and throat hit.
Variable wattage devices give you full control over your vaping experience, however its highly recommended to follow the manufacturer’s instructions and do more research, especially if you are a newbie getting into sub-ohming.
Warning! DO NOT increase the wattage too high to burn the coil or too low that it does not produce vapour. Learn to set the appropriate wattage to work best with each coil resistance.
How to Customize your Vaping experience:
- MORE/LESS VAPOUR: If you prefer a warmer and thicker vapour, then turn the wattage up within the recommended watt range. At a higher wattage, more power will be provided to the coil. With the increased power, the coil produces warmer and huge clouds of vapour. For cooler vapour clouds, simply turn the wattage down.
- STRONGER/SMOOTH FLAVOUR: the wattage of your e-cigarette will affect the flavour of your e-juice. Higher wattages are perfect for dessert or creamy type of e-liquids, whereas lower wattages are perfect for menthol flavours. Using specific flavours at specific wattages will give you the best vaping experience. Trial different watts within the recommended range for different flavours.
- MORE/LESS THROAT HIT: If you are craving for a strong throat hit, then you can turn your wattage up within the recommended Watt range. When the coil is operated at a higher wattage, it creates more vapour and delivers more hit like the feeling when you smoke traditional cigarettes or use nicotine eliquids. On the other hand, if you want the vape to be smoother, use the device at lower wattage.
Please be aware when the vaping device is used at a higher wattage, it needs more e-juice to create more vapour. If you vape at 40 or 50 watts, you can get through a 10ml of e-liquid within a day. If you don’t want to use up a bottle of e-liquid in a day, keep the wattage at a lower level. Battery life also gets affected lasting less time after fully charged, if you continually vape at the highest recommended wattage.
Now, you would have got some idea how the wattage affects your vaping experience. But, what is the perfect wattage to use? Every coil is recommended for a certain wattage range, and this could be found written on the coil itself. Once you are sure about the coil’s wattage rating, begin with the lower wattage level and then gradually increase it. By experimenting in this way, you will find your own perfect wattage.
