Advanced Guide

If you have seen the latest generation of electronic cigarettes known as Advanced Personal vaporisers or MODS, but feel a bit confused about the options, then it’s time to go through this guide to help you decide. Either you are new to vaping or currently using an electronic cigarette which requires minimum customization, its not too hard to start vaping like a boss, if you choose the right vaping gear.

What is an Advanced Personal Vaporiser APV, MOD?

Advanced personal Vaporisers or Vape MODs are the third generation of electronic cigarettes, which are a lot bigger, heavier and customizable vapes compared with the earlier versions of electronic cigarettes: Ciga like or Vape pen.

MODs are available in different brands, sizes and customizable features including: variation of wattages, voltage, temperature control, etc.

Advantages and disadvantages of APV, Mods

ADVANTAGES

DISADVANTAGES

MODs or APVs are very appealing to ex-smokers trying to be cool and away from the demonized cigarettes.

Size matters for some people who prefer discretion. But you will get used to it!

Vape MODs offer a great range of power which can be personalized to personal needs.

APVs / Mods are not as easy to use as ciga-like and vape pens style of e-cigarettes.

Greater capacity and battery life.

MODs or APV require a bit more of knowledge to optimize their features. But you can learn!

With APV/ MODs you will be able to produce more Vapour, more throat hit and stronger nicotine.

As APVs / MOD s are more powerful, you will be running your of juice more often. It uses up more e-liquid to make thicker clouds.

Eliquids required for APV, MODs

Eliquids are made of three (3) basic ingredients: Vegetable Glyerine VG, Propylene Glycol PG and Food flavors. As a rule:

  • E-liquids with Higher VG% tend to create thicker clouds of vapour,
  • E-liquids with Higher PG% tend to deliver stronger throat hit.

When using Advanced Personal Vaporisers MODs, its highly recommend sourcing the correct PG/VG ratio to increase the performance of your device and get the best vaping experience.

Eliquids with Higher VG % are the best for MODs, but it also depends on the coil resistance:

Tanks with coil which resistance is over 1.0 ohm require eliquids with PG 50/ VG 50 or higher VG % ratio.

SUB-OHMING: Tanks with coil which resistance is lower than 1.0 ohm require e-liquids with PG 30 / VG 70 or higher VG% ratio.

“Please be aware the entire set-up of sub-ohm tanks will enhance the nicotine level of your e-liquids (if vaping nicotine juices), so DO NOT USE nicotine strength higher than 6mg. It might feel/taste too harsh and peppery.

Different customization options?

It seems endless the amount of features you need to learn get familiar with when you first get an Advanced Personal Vaporiser – MOD, but probably half of them are irrelevant to you, so please don’t panic! After following the instructions, watching couple of youtube clips, and a bit of practice you will become a Vaping Master.

- Wattage and Voltage: Wattage is the amount of power the e-cig/mod produces, and voltage is the amount of power is put through the device.

Deciding what is the ideal wattage / voltage requires a bit of trial and error, so as a rule of thumb, you must start at the lowest recommended Wattage*, then increase gradually as you continue vaping until you find the happy vaping setting. You might not draw a lot of vapour at the beginning, but at least you will not burn your coil heads straight away.

* lowest and highest Recommended wattage are printed on the coil itself or original coil package.

- Coil Resistance: the lower the resistance of your atomizer, the more electricity it will flow though.

Depending on the brand of your tank, you will have the ability to use different Coils dotted with different resistances. All coil heads have a recommended wattage range (RWR) which you need to stick to. Going above RWR will burn your coils quicker, producing a burn flavor.

The higher the resistance, the lower you will run the MOD. Eg. The recommended wattage range for an Aspire Nautilus 1.8ohm coil is 9W– 13W. Setting your mod higher than 13W, will burn the coil quicker and give you a burn/harsh flavor when you vape.

The lowest the resistance, the higher you can set up the wattage on your MOD. Eg, an Uwell Crown III 0.25Ohm coil demands higher wattage (45W-80W) to perform better. This action of using coils under 1.0 Ohm is also known as Sub-ohming.

SUBOHMING has its pros and cons:

Pros: it produces greater and warmer amount of vapour, it enhances the flavor and strength of nicotine.

Cons: It uses up more eliquid, battery gets drained quicker, the coil head will last less than a week.

Temperature control TC

Temperature Control is an optional setting on your Vaping machine. It gives you a more consistence and safer vape, since the coils stays at the perfect temperature all the way to the way, without getting a dry / hot hit.

There are different range of temperature available 100 – 315C. The lower the temperature the cooler vape and less vapour it produces, on the other hand, the highest the temperature, the warmer vape and thicker vapour it produces.

When using TC mode you need to make sure the Coil inside the tank is nickel, titanium or stainless steel coils.
